Honoring CPL William Kyle Middleton

William Kyle Middleton, of Norfolk, VA. was born and raised in the Richmond area.  He graduated from L.C. Bird HS in Chesterfield, VA in 2002.  He played soccer for several years with FC Richmond Magic.

He was accepted to an England College where he pursued his love of soccer.  He had competed internationally in soccer since he was young and wanted to play professionally.  When a knee injury put an end to that dream, he returned to Norfolk and finished his degree in communication at Old Dominion University in 2007.  He minored in marketing and studied film while also a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

 

Honoring SSG Sean Michael Flannery

Sean Michael Flannery, 29, of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, was born Feb 12, 1981.  He graduated from Wyomissing High School in 1999 and Shippensburg University in 2003 with a major in business, where he also played LaCrosse.

"He was a real good guy. He was quiet." Charlie Kuhns, uncle.

"Sean was just a very special fine young man who really had a great future." Charlene Flannery, mother.

"So many people including myself have been so blessed to have known such a true hero with a kindred soul!" Kim Oravetz, schoolmate.

"We would always be down in the basement, where the video games were.  It was a guarantee that four or five times someone would have to come yell down at us because we'd end up wrestling or something." Danny Kuhns, cousin.

"Sean knew just how to put a smile on anyone's face, not only a terrific friend but also a great inspiration to many." Elaina Murguia, friend.

"His father was an 82nd Airborne Veteran of the Viet Nam War and a lawyer.

Honoring SGT Justin E Culbreth

Justin Eric Culbreth of Colorado Springs, Colorado was born on May 18, 1984 and lived in Wentzville, Missouri prior to enlisting.  He attended Warrenton High School before graduating early from homeschool.

He was a member of the Grace Nazarene Church.  He enjoyed hunting deer, fishing, playing paintball & video games.

“He was a fine young man growing up.  He had his mind set on (the Army). He wanted to serve his country.” Walter Culbreth, father.

"He was the kind of SOLDIER that you could count on getting the mission completed without looking over him and knew when he said it was done you knew that it was done to standards. He understood the bigger picture and never complained about the hours we put in that year."  SSG T.

Honoring SSG David P Senft

David P Senft of of Grass Valley, CA, was born in Haywood, CA on the 4th of July, 1983.  He graduated from Sierra Mountain High School in 2001.

He is remembered for incessant whistling and snapping his fingers often.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and shopping for antiques with his mother.  He is described as an expert player of "Rock Band."

"He personally was very generous and funny and a smart guy. He had a very strong understanding of what freedom was and was fighting for us because it's what he believed in, it's what he loved. He was a fantastic brother who would do anything for his family and anything for his country." Catherine, sister.

"I remember meeting Dave at poker nights out our house. He was so serious about it lol. He always talked about his kid and said it was the best feeling in the world being a father." Rachel Choque, friend.

Before becoming a member of the 101st, he served with the 82nd Airborne.

 

Honoring PFC Christian M "Kade" Warriner

Christian Michael Warriner, 19, of Mills River, NC, graduated from West Henderson HS in 2009, where he played football and was a member of the Army JROTC and Future Farmers of America. He married his HS Sweetheart Shelby in March 2010.

“He was a young man, who knew what he wanted to do.” Dean Jones, HS principal.  “Most all my conversations with him the last part of his senior year were about how excited he was about joining the Army.” 

“He knew who he was.  He was confident. He was a really good guy.”  Sebastien Castellanos, a junior at West Henderson.

“He was a hard-working kid. Whatever you asked him to do, he would do it.” Paul Whitaker, football coach. "That's what he wanted to do was to go into the Army after he graduated, and that's what he did. He wasn't a starter on our team, but he was a key player at every practice, challenging the other players. He played the game just like he did his job in the Army, with no fear.”

Honoring SPC Jesse A Snow

Jesse Adam Snow, 25, of Fairborn, Ohio, was born April 18, 1985 at K.I. Sawyer AFB, Michigan. He attended Baker Junior High and graduated from Fairborn High School.

 

He served as an alter boy at Mary Help of Christians Church in Fairborn.

He played football with the Wee Hawks and Little League Baseball.  He continued in basketball and football at Junior High and played multiple sports in HS where he was also a member of AF JROTC.

Jesse volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Dayton, OH and helped neighbors with yard work.

Snow was an Infantryman assigned to Alpha Company, 1^st Battalion, 327^th Infantry Regiment, 1^st Brigade Combat Team, 101^st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He joined the Army in April 2009 and arrived at Fort Campbell in August 2009. 

 

Honoring SPC Scott T Nagorski

Scott Thomas Nagorski, of Greenfield, WI, was born November 13, 1983 in Milwaukee, WI. He graduated from Franklin High School in 2002.

"Kids who were struggling and having a hard time, Scott just had a way of working with these students and settling them down, and making them feel comfortable, and Scott had a real gift for that."  Andrew Misorski, teacher. There's a lot of value in what Scott represented as a young man. He made a choice to serve and protect us there's a lot of valor i that choice alone"

Nagorski was an Infantryman assigned to Alpha Company, 1^st Battalion, 327^th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101^st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He joined the Army in July 2006 and arrived at Fort Campbell in November 2006.

Honoring Nathan E Lillard

Nathan Lillard was born on August 18, 1984 in East Ridge, TN, grew up in McMinn County, Tennessee and graduated Lenoir City HS in 2003.

"He was an excellent kid, very respectful and soft-spoken. He wanted to serve his country even while he was in high school." David Widby, Principal

Schoolmate Jamie Petty remembers Nathan as one of the nicest guys and with a great since of humor.

He later worked at Modern Supply.

Lillard was an Infantryman assigned to Alpha Company, 1^st Battalion, 327^th Infantry Regiment, 1^st Brigade Combat Team, 101^st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

Honoring SPC Shane H Ahmed

Shane Hussein Ahmed of Chesterfield, MI was born Dec 9, 1978.  He attended South Kingston HS in Wakefield, RI and graduated in 1997 from Bedford North Lawrence HS in Bedford, IN where he tutored fellow students in Math and English.  He also wrestled and played football.

“Hussien was absolutely a brilliant young man. He was very respectful and quiet." Becky Sprinkle, guidance counselor.

His academic excellence earned him grants from the North Lawrence Foundation, Edward Hutton, and Wal-Mart.  He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Purdue and also attended Ohio State University.

Ahmed was an Infantryman assigned to Alpha Company, 1^st Battalion, 327^th Infantry Regiment, 1^st Brigade Combat Team, 101^st Airborne Division (Air Assault).  He joined the Army in April 2007 and arrived at Fort Campbell in December 2009. 

 

Honoring SPC Jacob C Carroll

Jacob Charles Carroll was born June 27, 1990 in High Point, NC.  He graduated in 2008 from Trinity HS where he played football.

He enjoyed muscle cars, 4 wheel drive trucks, four wheelers, and motorcycles.

He spent hours with his Uncle Cary Mullinnex restoring a 1969 Camaro Z28.

 Jake was a 3rd Generation Paratrooper, who's Grandfather served in the 101st and who's Father served in the 82nd.  Both had earned Jumpmaster status and he planned to earn that trusted role as well.

Carroll was an Infantryman assigned to Company B., 2^nd Battalion, 502^nd Infantry Regiment, 101^st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

He joined the Army in January 2009 and arrived at Fort Campbell June 2009. 

His awards and decorations include: Purple Heart; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; and Parachutists Badge.
