He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling. He worked as a carpenter before joining the Army where he often stopped in to see his boss', Brian Bunce's, falcon. Private First Class Jason M. "Nighthawk" Kropat, 25, of White Lake, NY. He graduated from Monticello HS, where he was known for his wit and mischieviousness.

His awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart; Army Commendation Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; and Weapons Qualification, M4, expert.
Kropat is survived by his parents, Kathleen and Glenn Kropat, of Fredericksburg, Texas.
