Jason Thomas Smith of Colorado Springs, CO, was born in Aberdeen, Washington and attended High School at Coronado HS before graduating at Doherty High School in 2000.
He enjoyed fishing, Rock music, and playing basketball. His childhood dream was to play professional basketball with the Utah Jazz.

He enlisted in the Marine Corps with a friend in 2000. He has served as a Primary Marksmanship Instructor at MCA Cherry Point in North Carolina and had deployed twice to Iraq before a deployment to Afghanistan as an augmentee from his base in Iwakuni, Japan.

Jason's awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
He is remembered for his teaching ability, his horseshoes expertise, and his cutthroat skills in playing cards.
Jason is survived by his wife Janet of Chicago, his parents, Buddy and Loretta Smith of Colorado Springs; his two sisters, Brandi Jo of Colorado Springs and Brittany of Denver, his grandparents, Tom and Carol smith of Colorado Springs, and his niece Kieley of Colorado Springs.
He was remember November 27, 2010 at Mountain View.
