Jacob Charles Carroll was born June 27, 1990 in High Point, NC. He graduated in 2008 from Trinity HS where he played football. He enjoyed muscle cars, 4 wheel drive trucks, four wheelers, and motorcycles. He spent hours with his Uncle Cary Mullinnex restoring a 1969 Camaro Z28. Jake was a 3rd Generation Paratrooper, who's Grandfather served in the 101st and who's Father served in the 82nd. Both had earned Jumpmaster status and he planned to earn that trusted role as well. Carroll was an Infantryman assigned to Company B., 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
He joined the Army in January 2009 and arrived at Fort Campbell June 2009.
His awards and decorations include: Purple Heart; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; and Parachutists Badge.
He was remembered at Green Street Baptist Church November 24, 2010 and laid to rest at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetary in High Point, NC.
