Shane Hussein Ahmed of Chesterfield, MI was born Dec 9, 1978. He attended South Kingston HS in Wakefield, RI and graduated in 1997 from Bedford North Lawrence HS in Bedford, IN where he tutored fellow students in Math and English. He also wrestled and played football.

His academic excellence earned him grants from the North Lawrence Foundation, Edward Hutton, and Wal-Mart. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Purdue and also attended Ohio State University.
Ahmed was an Infantryman assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He joined the Army in April 2007 and arrived at Fort Campbell in December 2009.
Ahmed is survived by his wife, Eva Vasquez; step-daughter, Evita Vasquez; step-son, Evan Vasquez, of Lebanon, Tenn. and his parents, Jamal and Subra Ahmed of Chesterfield, MI, and his brother Asif Ahmed of Chicago, IL. His parents immigrated from Bangladesh.
He was remembers at Farley-Estes & Dowdle and laid to rest at Ft Custer National Cemetary on Nov 24, 2010.
