Craftsman Andrew Found D Squadron (Warthog Group) Fitter Section Light Aid Detachment

Craftsman Andrew Found was born on 8th November 1983. Hailing from Whitby, and a proud Yorkshireman, he was affectionately known by those in the Squadron as 'Foundy'.
He joined the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers as a Recovery Mechanic on 11 December 2006, aged 23. Upon completion of basic and trade training he was posted to 4 Battalion Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, then based at Bordon. Prior to his arrival at the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, he served in Afghanistan on Operation HERRICK 10 in 2009. Joining D Squadron (WARTHOG Group) in August 2010 he conducted the full Mission Specific Training package for Operation HERRICK 14. In April 2011 he deployed to Afghanistan with the WARTHOG Group, under the command of 30 Commando Royal Marines taking part in a wide variety of operations across the Task Force Helmand area.

Craftsman Found was married to Samantha and they had one son, Jaxson. He was also father to Michael from a previous relationship.

Honoring SPC Richard C Emmons III

“Richard was an outstanding soldier and a great man,” said U.S. Army Cpt. Bixler C. Benson, commander of HHC 2nd Bn., 30th Inf. Regt. “He joined the Army because he wanted to be a Soldier, fully knowing that he would deploy and support the global war on terrorism. That action in itself speaks volume to his character.”

 Cpt. Bixler C. Benson: “I give you all one last duty for Richard and that’s to tell the American people of his sacrifice,” he said. “A general officer once said to me ‘you’ll never forget the heroes that you served with. You will carry that weight for the rest of your life but the American people will not know of their sacrifices unless you share it with them.’”

Honouring CSgt Alan "Cammy" Cameron

Colour Sergeant Cameron's family paid the following tribute to him:

"The whole family is devastated by the sudden loss of a dear family member, who has sadly lost his battle to overcome injuries sustained on operations. Alan (Cammy) fulfilled his childhood dreams of becoming a soldier in 1989 when he joined the Scots Guards. He was very passionate about Army Life and as a very experienced, professional soldier; he loved the challenges involved in operating in an operational environment.

"The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Team Medics and medical staff involved in saving Alan's life initially as this allowed us a further year in the company of a great man.

"The family would also like to thank the 1st Battalion Scots Guards for their continued support at this very difficult time."

Honoring LCpl Liam Tasker & Theo

Lance Corporal Tasker deployed to Afghanistan on 8 September 2010 as part of 1st Military Working Dog Regiment. Having trained as an Arms and Explosives Search dog handler, he was attached to 1st Battalion Irish Guards on 19 February 2011.

LCpl Liam Tasker was born on the 11 December 1984 in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland. He joined the Army in 2001 and was originally a vehicle mechanic in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. His passion though, was always dogs which led to his transfer to the Royal Army Veterinary Corps in 2007.

Honoring SSG Chauncy R Mays

Chauncy R Mays was born December 7, 1985 and graduated from Chapel Hill HS in 2004.  He married Katherine Carpenter in 2007.

Mays, a 25-year-old native of Cookville, Texas, was assigned to 63rd EOD Bn, 20th Support Command and attached to 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division’s Task Force Patriot based at Fort Polk, La.,

He was assigned to 705th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company in the Tangi area. Mays was working out of Combat Outpost Tangi in support of 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, while deployed in Afghanistan.

While his comrades credit Mays’ dedication and expertise for having saved a “countless” number of lives as an EOD non-commissioned officer, he meant much more to them and to his unit.

Honoring Sapper Jamie Ronald Larcombe

Twenty one year old Sapper Jamie Larcombe was from the Darwin-based 1st Combat Engineer Regiment.

Sapper Larcombe was born in Kingscote, South Australia, 1989. Jamie joined the Army in 2008 and successfully completed his recruit and combat engineer basic training in 2008 prior to being posted to the 1st Combat Engineer Regiment based in Darwin.

Jamie Ronald Larcombe was born on the 14th September 1989 at Kingscote Hospital on Kangaroo Island, South Australia.

Honoring 2nd Lt. Robert A. Miller

The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) announced today that the remains of 11 U.S. servicemen, missing in action from World War II, have been identified and are being returned to their families for burial with full military honors. 

                 Army Air Forces 2^nd Lt. Robert A. Miller, 22, Memphis, TN, will be buried on March 24 in Arlington National Cemetery.  On Nov. 20, 1943, Miller, along with 10 other B-24D Liberator crew members, took off from Jackson Airfield, Port Moresby, New Guinea, on an overwater mission near the northern coast of the country.  During the mission, the only radio transmission from the crew indicated they were 20 miles northwest of Port Moresby, but they did not return to Jackson Airfield.  Subsequent searches failed to uncover any evidence of either the crew or the aircraft. 

Stories of the Lives of Our Fallen Warriors

When one researches and reads about the lives of Our Individual Warriors, you learn not only a little about what drives them to serve individually, but also about the characteristics that produces these Great Men, willing to sacrifice greatly while risking all to protect others.  Too often, we don't know what we have until its gone. 

One interesting trend I've noted is the above average propensity of Our Troops to have played sports in High School.  It shouldn't be surprising as it instills teamwork and I also played sports in school.  Another is the number of stories of helping others.  Our Troops seem more likely than not to have lived a life of going out of their way to help those weaker, poorer, or in any way less fortunate.  Quite often, they are the popular kid in School that befriends the geeks, the nerds, and other outcasts of school society, while leading the football team and volunteering for a local Non-Profit.

Honoring SSG Jason A Reeves

Jason A Reeves of Odessa, was born June 9, 1978 in Lubbock, Texas.  He attended Peoria High School in Arizona and graduated in 1980 through correspondence course.  He continued his education in the Military, earning an Associates Degree in Applied Science - Intelligence Operations with High Honors.

His life as an Air Force brat provided him experience in many locations and nations.  He was the Math-Science Student of the Year for Maricopa County, AZ and attended elementary school in Okinawa, Japan.

He enjoyed traveling both as an AF brat and as a Soldier and used the opportunity to learn about the local culture no matter where he went.

He enjoyed debate, sky-diving, and SCUBA.

Private Howard was serving with 16 Air Assault Brigade's Reconnaissance Force on a patrol ten kilometres south west of the provincial capital of Helmand province, Laskah Gah, when he was fatally wounded during an action conducted against insurgents operating in that area.

Private John Howard, aged 23, was born in Wellington, New Zealand, on 17 April 1987. Having arrived in the United Kingdom he applied to join The Parachute Regiment and subsequently completed the Combat Infantryman's Course held at the Infantry Training Centre Catterick, North Yorkshire.
