In a conflict between Election Workers and a man, Tim Thompson, claiming to have served in the US Marine Corps, a cook in Nashville, managed to embarrass Tennesseans, Veterans, & Marines with behavior uncharacteristic of all. In a pre-planned event, he invited the news media to accompany and videotape the encounter, wherein he refused to present a Photo ID, as required by law, in order to vote.
While Tennessee Election Officials attempted to defuse the situation, by explaining what was required and what alternatives to the presentation of photo ID were, the man claiming to be a former Marine, pointed to a commonly available patch sewn on a leather jacket yelling "This is my ID." He also waved around a voter registration card typed on cardstock, with no picture that has been used in previous elections.
Tennessee issues photo ID's free of charge to those demonstrating proof of citizenship and residency, who do not have one of the approved photo ID's.
In early voting, 200,000 Tennesseans cast standard ballots and 47 cast a provisional ballot, which is an alternative to demonstrating photo ID.
Tennessee is one of several states that have established laws requiring proof of citizenship and residency, as well as photo identification, in order to prevent election fraud, in the wake of attempts by ACORN to register characters such as Mickey Mouse during the 2008 election cycle and the problems in the 2000 Florida elections. During the 2010 election cycle, ACORN was alleged to have attempted to use the illegal alien population to vote in support of the DNC in Washington.
Illegal aliens do not have a right to vote. Those ballots cast outside the rightful, singular vote of Citizens dilute the vote of those Citizens, including Veterans who are choosing their Representatives in Government.
Tim Thompson claims he served in the Marine Corp from 1974 to 1978. It is very possible that he did, but he did not demonstrate evidence (DD214) of that either.
In Tennessee, it is illegal to operate a motor vehicle with out a state issued ID, it is illegal to purchase alcohol, regardless of age without a photo ID, and a photo ID is required for the purchase of firearms.
In Tennessee as well as the Marine Corps, it is considered inappropriate behavior to verbally assault a civilian worker for upholding the law. Thompson indicates he moved to Nashville in 2004. His behavior is not indicative of the behavior of Veterans or Tennesseans.
Current laws on proof of citizenship at polls are:

The Department of Justice is holding up photo ID laws in South Carolina and Texas, based on an outdated law which allows Washington to interfere in electoral laws in Southern States (green on map).
Photo ID or alternative (voters at polling place must either show photo ID or meet another state-specific requirement, such as answering personal questions correctly or being vouched for by another voter who has voter ID): Alabama, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan and South Dakota. (yellow on map)
Non-photo ID(state-specific list of acceptable forms of polling place ID, including a non-photo form): Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Utah, Virginia, Washington. (bluish on map)

Chicago is ranked the most corrupt city in the Nation, with Los Angeles running a close second.
